Reflecting on Day 3 – Doyle B

Today started with a great breakfast before a quick ride on a train to Osaka. Once in Osaka we headed straight for the castle. It was a great day for this as the skies were open and blue compared to the grey of yesterday. The castle was amazing with a grand design. My only wish was that we could spend more time there as was so much still to see in the castle.

The train rides between destinations were fun and once we explored all the different subways and found our way to a restaurant for lunch, we were again impressed with the food. It was amazing and the staff were so kind, so much that they gave our tables a free serve of octopus to cook on the hot plate.

We then spent a few fun hours or so exploring the street/mall area in Osaka before heading back to the hotel and off for dinner. An early night tonight so we can be refreshed and ready to go again tomorrow. 😊

Reflecting on Day 2 – Harry B

Today was our first time eating breakfast at the hotel. We were able to choose whatever we wanted to eat! There was a mixture of Japanese and Western foods which was nice as it have us a chance to taste some cultural cuisines.

Next, we visited Ginkakuji, the silver pavilion. There were a lot of photo opportunities! We then had lunch at Kyoto Imperial Palace Park while viewing the cherry blossoms.

Our next stop was the beautiful Gion district where we were able to experience a traditional tea ceremony. It was great to experience such amazing customs.

We then went to have a look at the blossoms at Maruyama Park where the crowds were huge! Following this we went to have a look around and shop for a while for more food souvenirs. After having dinner at a food hall near our hotel, and tasting more traditional Japanese foods, we went to get our rail passes for our future adventures. So far an amazing trip! Stay tuned for more. Harry.

Day 2 – Kyoto

After a good night’s sleep and amazing breakfast, we are heading out to explore Kyoto. Off to visit Kinkakuji (The Golden Pavillion) and Nijo Castle. We will then be participating in a tea ceremony at Gesshi-en Temple and then a stroll through Koudaiji Temple and Maruyama Park. Hopefully some cherry blossoms will be blooming! Stay tuned for pics and comments from us throughout the day.
